My order didn't ship for 8 days and was apparently shipped to the wrong address. It has been three weeks now of being ignored, blamed for Purenova’s error, and then ignored again. After trying to be patient and just getting ignored, I filed a claim with my bank today to try to get my money back. This is unbelievable!
What a thoughtfully designed and effective bottle filter. I used this quite extensively while my RO filter was out of commission. The tap TDS read about 300 - after going through this, it was about 50-70. Quite a significant reduction, certainly. It also improved the taste quite a bit. I generally find tap water unpalatable and won't drink it unless I'm going to die from thirst. This is quite the game changer. I also had the chance to use it while on a road trip, and I liked not having to bring water with me since I could just fill this up wherever I stopped along the way.
This bottle is pretty big and does not store a lot of water. But it has been great for hiking in isolated areas where you have to treat any water you find. Using is really straightforward, though I've found out you have to fill it quite a bit below the max fill line if you don't want to spill half of the water out.
Overall however, this has been a great product to carry with me.
I used this for out of the country .
This water bottle is a game changer. This is something I imagined as a kid. When I went camping, I pictured being able to just scoop up some water and drinking it from a cup. This process is a lot more than the magical cup I imagined as a kid and requires a little bit of effort, but it certainly is a game changer. You can filter 24 oz of water in about 10 seconds. If you don't want to lug around a heavy bottle of water, you can just carry this and purify your water when you are ready to drink! It's also a great idea to have around in case of a natural disaster.
When compared to other water bottle purification systems- this one makes sense based on cost. Granted, there are many other cheaper models from a wide variety of brands that all claim the same results but this one is definitely worth it. The water quality is excellent and tasty. The flow of purification is acceptable and it filters amounts sustainable for proper hydration on hiking or camping expeditions. Use caution and common sense for the source of water you’ll choose to filter. Press filters like these are mostly for removing solid contaminants and not intended to “purify” or “sterilize” your drinking water. Viruses and some microbes could still be present in filtered water so be sure to filter water from cold, clear and preferably fast-moving water sources that are not likely contaminated with chemicals or sewage.
I like the size of this bottle but I wouldn’t want to rely on this for long excursions in the wild. It isn’t that it’s heavy but it isn’t very lightweight per se and so I feel most confident keeping this with me as a travel companion on short camps, vacationing abroad or on hikes in places where fresh drinking water isn’t readily available.
I used this purifier water bottle and it seems to work just fine. I have no way of testing the water though. Using it was easy. You have to have a bit of muscle to remove the bottom part from the top, but once you get the seal to release it comes apart just fine. The water gets pushed through the purifying system and you drink from the top of the water bottle. The color is exactly the way it look on the listing. I will hopefully get to use this bottle when I go to Brazil later this year.
Neat design. Well made and easy to use. Everyone should have one in their survival kit.
I ordered the PURENOVA WowPress 24 oz Water Purifier Bottle (Light Gray)- Filter for Hiking, Camping, Survival. I am very impressed with the quality built of this purifier water bottle, I hope to never need to use this but it is definitely something to have "in case of emergency". My family are avid hikers and rock climbers, so I am so glad to be able to own one of these purifier bottles and they will be packing this in their packs. Read the instructions and practice, great to have.
My feelings were mixed while testing the Purenova WowPress, but found it to be an overall good water filter.
Pulling the filter and cup out isn't the easiest thing to do. If younger or older people use this as their only access to clean drinking water they might have a little trouble.
I'm used to letting the water work through the filter naturally, with gravity I guess you'd say, so forcing the water through the filter makes me worry that something I don't want to ingest is going to slip thru. On a positive note, you do get filtered water much faster with the Purenova WowPress.
It's a bit bulkier and heavier than other water filters of this type and for me, if I'm backpacking, every oz counts. Still, it isn't bad though.
I did taste test the water out of my kitchen faucet as well as the hose outside and I could tell the difference. The kitchen water does taste a little better, however, the hose water tastes much better.
Lastly, this product is a bit more expensive than other filters I've tried and currently own. Personally I would use this as a backup and definitely pull it out if I needed filtered water fast, in the case of a medical emergency and had to have clean water quickly in order to wash a wound. This being the case I do recommend it.
It can take a bit of patience and force to filter the water, but the result is odorless and clean tasting water anywhere you go. Great travel companion for visiting places with poor water infrastructure.
I absolutely love this product. It makes water purification very easy. All you do is put water in it and it creates nice clean filtered water. It is very durable and easy to use. Great value for the money.
This Purenova WowPress water filtering water bottle is very fast and efficient for filtering shareable water with minimal effort. Although I have found both pros and cons with this bottle, the nature of the positives far outweighs any negatives for me.
Pros:
-This bottle is able to effectively (I trust, as I'm not actually sending my filtered water to a lab for testing) filter a large quantity of water in a matter of seconds in any setting.
-The style of this bottle allows you to filter water, pour out the filtered water (to share with someone else, make a flavored beverage, clean a wound, etc.) and continue filtering more instantly so you can use clean water for multiple people or purposes with VERY little time commitment.
-The bottle itself is fairly comfortable to carry and transport. The small carry clip allows it to be hooked onto a backpack or bag using a carabiner.
-The drinking spout is protected by the leakproof cover, which has a lock as well. The size of the drinking spout is convenient for drinking without water spilling out.
-Once all assembled, the bottle is nicely leakproof.
-The bottle is fairly lightweight, making it ideal to take along for hiking or backbacking trips.
Cons:
-The advertised "non-slip" base is really just a thicker section of the same type of hard, smooth plastic the rest of the bottle is made of. I expected it to be rubbery but it is not. This hasn't actually created a problem for me, just seems a bit misleading.
-To filter water, you remove the outermost cup piece of the bottle, fill it with water, then press the inner portion of the bottle into the filled cup portion. No matter how slowly I try to press it in or how far below the "max fill line" I fill the dirty water reservoir, water always spills out the sides as I press the bottle in. Since I'm generally filling this from a sink or a natural outdoor water source, I'm not worried about the mess, but it is something to be aware of.
-With the inner filter/drinking reservoir completely pressed into the outer shell, about 2 ounces of water remains in the bottom of the dirty reservoir and cannot be pressed through the filter. This is notable for one specific reason- the bottle is advertised as a 24 oz bottle and the fill line on the dirty water reservoir does go up to 24 oz, however, between the amount of water lost while pressing the filter in and this small amount that remains inside the dirty water reservoir, the actual clean and drinkable amount ends up being something more like 18-19 oz of water. Not a huge issue, but again, worth noting as you may want to drink a bit extra while your water source is available before refilling to pack away for later.
-This last thing may be my own issue but I cannot figure out how to remove the cartridge for replacing the filter, despite trying repeatedly to follow the included instructions. This isn't an issue right now as the filter is new and fine but eventually it will need to be replaced, so hopefully I can figure it out before then.
A couple of additional notes; the instructions note that a single cartridge can be used for up to 500 cycles, which is a pretty good amount. If you're using this traveling you may go through that faster but for someone who needs it just for backpacking trips it should last quite awhile. It also says it isn't to be used with high tannin-containing water because the filter may become clogged, so if you're around a lake or river with high tannins you may want to find a different option. In general, the cleaner the water is going into this type of bottle, the faster your filter will work and the longer it will last. It can be helpful to stretch a piece of fabric over the reservoir opening as an initial "filter" for large particles in the water when filling this just to stretch the inner filter as long as possible.
Overall, I'm very happy with this filtering bottle. A few minor annoyances but nothing that would stop me from appreciating it's usefulness. The water this bottle filters looks clear and tastes good and being able to pour out filtered water for sharing is a fantastic feature with this type of item. Would happily recommend this bottle.
It's a neat product. Super cool! So I followed the directions putting water into the base. I then took the drinking press and pushed it into the base thats filled with water. Doing so forced me to conjure all the strength in both this world and the next. I pushed the drinking cup down with the lid on and saw that was futile. I removed the lid and pressed the drinking cup down again with all my might and...tada...I filtered the tap water. And I sure did need it after that workout. I could taste the difference in the tap water. It was better...but I started wondering if this could be used when I travel to various places around the world like South America and Africa. I re-read the instructions and warnings and it doesn't filter mercury or toxic blue-green algae. One would need to test the water first before attempting to filter it. This bottle has 500 uses with clear water and you know when it's time to change the filter when "press time" reaches greater than 35 seconds. This is an okay product to use while hiking in America and seeing a clear running stream, scoop some delicious water out for filtering; but not sure if I'll be using it in other countries, or too often. There has to be an easier way to filter water with also more certainty that the water being filtered has remove all toxins.
This bottle is a great addition to my emergency pack. It's easy to use and you get multiple uses from it. Bottle itself feels very durable but still light weight and easy to carry. Couldn't ask for a better product at this price.
I don't have any highly technical equipment to test the water quality of this device, but it does seem to filter water well enough. It does seem to take a bit to get the water filtered through, but the end result tastes clean. This product is also pretty handy to stow in a backpack for hiking or keep in your emergency kit. I am glad we got it.
This is a pretty impressive unit in my opinion, especially if it works as it claims. I have no way of testing it really but I can say that the water I have drank from my tap even tastes fresh and so much better so it’s definitely doing something in my experience. The bottle is rugged, well designed and built for durability in my opinion. Would recommend.
Great for hikes where you are near a fresh water source and if you just want to make sure the water you are drinking is clean enough. I like to be able to dip it into a clean looking stream to get water while hiking and not worry that there may be some contaminants. It seems good enough to be able to use with dirty water though if you needed to in a survival situation which is perfect.
Got this filtering water bottle for my fishing/camping trips.
Incredibly easy to use… easier than most of the filter bottles out there.
Can fill with any water source and have fresh clean drinking water in just a few seconds.
The value however is good but not great compared to some of the tried and true filter apparatuses out there.
Easy to pack… doesn’t take up much space. I can se myself getting a LOT of use out of this in the future.
I will take a different approach to this water bottle review, and I was extremely excited about getting this!
I've spent the last 13 years hiking throughout various parts of Moab, Utah, in different canyon national parks, Cycling, and doing commercial photography in all extreme places.
There have been a handful of times where I've gotten lost and 15 to 20 times where I've run out of water.
I did not want to drink water from a small puddle or collect on a slight rock indentation.
I will take a different approach to this review because many people have discussed various aspects of the filter, pros and cons, and the lack of instruction.
Out of the box, I'm a big fan of these types of boxes that the product came in.
The instructions right out of the box were well done, with various pictures and a clear explanation of how to use the bottle of precautions care use.
I even contacted the company, and they responded immediately with general questions.
With my background in hiking and being in extreme environments, this is the type of product you throw into your backpack and forget about, just in case you need it.
It will be there to save your life.
This is the approach that I'm looking at.
I did preliminary testing with clean and partially dirty water, and it will do everything it states the water bottle does.
However, other people pointed out some challenges with the bottle.
When I first put the bottle in my hand, I was impressed by the BUILD quality of the PVC ABS type of plastic because this will be dinged up and used in extreme environments.
I like its plastic feel, and it is more reinforced, Which I've realized with water bottles over the years, they tend to wear out. I used a Hydro flask, stainless steel, for all my water bottles. That's my preference just because of how long they last, their cleanliness, and their ability to clean them over plastic deep, but that's a separate subject.
This bottle is light enough to where you won't notice it in your backpack.
I like the diversity of colors that the company offers.
I wasn't a fan of the color I received, blue, but after a while, I liked it because I thought if I dropped it, I would see it could dig it out of my backpack without tearing everything apart.
The overall build quality is thick and is made of PVC plastic ABS.
I like that the interior compartment is a complex type of plastic.
The seal is a very dense rubber.
The only thing I want to see is the seal, potentially the ability to come off.
I will tell everybody a trick and how to clean these bottles, which may change your approach towards plastic bottles.
I understand the seal must be glued on there because you want that vacuum-type seal.
As far as the filter, I do like how big the filter is in the mechanism behind it. It's straightforward.
If you need to take it apart and clean it, it's relatively simple for the most part.
As far as the filter, I've seen several of these filters on the market from various other types of bottles, including water bottles in general; it's pretty standard.
I would like to see a second filter in the box and a neo, neoprene case or thing along those lines with the hook on the end.
I've had several bottles, probably well over 1000, from Cycling.
You name it; I've had it!
I've spent over $100 on a bottle before just for a standard stainless steel bottle, even ceramic titanium, so it's an excellent overall construction when you first look at the top.
When you press open, it opens immediately, and a solid pop to it.
.They have this little rubber circle on the inner part, silicone, which will seal the bottle 100%, and a little clip goes over it.
On the other side, you have a little carabiner part, which is plastic.
It's a tad bit wobbly, but it does the trick.
Overall, it's a basic top, and I like the thickness of the PVC.
I would like to see some improvement for the second or third generation.
Regarding the overall bottle, I'd like to see rubber on the side or the bottom, like silicone.
This is mainly for grip because when you're out in the middle of nowhere, it's hot; it's humid.
You could be in some extreme environments, and your hands are wet. This might slip out of your hand as something for future use.
I've seen many bottles have this type of case or silicon that is an addon.
There's much room for improvement.
I like the initial design.
I've been involved in various parts of research and development, from the conception of the theory of a product to creative production, selling, and marketing the product at the ground level and being involved in second and third-generation products.
I want an improvement on either this being stainless steel or the carabiner being better constructed because I had honestly been worried about the carabiner part breaking on a long hike.
If you put this on the back of your bag with a small carabiner when you are hiking for 20 miles, it falls off because it might break.
That's the last thing you want ...
I don't think I will use this a ton, as I have other water bottles for day-to-day use, but this is a really slick bottle for hiking in the mountains. A lot of the hikes I do have rivers. This bottle is perfect for being able to continually refill my bottle without having to schlep a ton of water with me. The water tastes fine, and I haven't gotten sick yet
This water bottle is pretty ingenious! It's a little bulky, but the safety it provides filtering water you are unsure of is a great trade off. I have been testing it out with straight hose water and I can really taste a difference in the water coming straight out of the hose and after being filtered through the bottle. I am absolutely going to make sure I always have it with me when I go hiking and camping. I love having it in my travel trailer as well if I run out of filtered water and don't want to have to cook with or drink the water from the spigot. When the bottle is empty it is super lightweight, so when you fill it up with 24 oz of water, it's not that heavy. I think because I have freakishly small hands, the bottle feels bulky to me, but it has a cool hanger that I can clip onto my backpack and it's fine. Just put the water in it, push down to filter and you're good to go. It's quick, easy and very mind settling. So glad I stumbled across this product and am able to try it out. Would recommend if it's something you're in the market for.
Heavier than the straw type filers but it is it’s own container for transporting water so that is the trade off. Couple of critical silicone ring seals that could potentially fail or become damaged causing a loss of functionality. It is well built and if you do your part to not abuse it it should serve its purpose on your outdoor adventures. If ultra lightweight is your thing there are probably lighter options out there. I see this being useful for a day at the lake or out on a boat in freshwater where water sources are limited.
Well, this is definitely a neat design for filtered water. This cup & filter is supposed to be able to filter pretty much any water from almost any water source. Like a river or pond etc. I like the easy design. After reading the instructions & figuring out how it works, it's pretty simple. Basically you separate the inner part of the cup (which is the filter) of the from the outer part by twisting & pulling it up & apart. Fill the outer part with water, then put the inner part (the filter) back inside the outer cup that is filled with water & push down allowing the pressure your applying to force water through the filter while it's filling up the inner part with the drinkable water. I know, that's a lot to explain. It's actually simple. The whole thing is like a thermos. It's nice & simple. My only complaint is the price. Maybe I'm old fashioned. But a hundred bucks for a filtered thermos? I don't know how to rectify that in my mind. I can get a life straw for twenty & it does the same thing. But other than that, this does work. It does what it says & it is nice. It's all in one & I can't complain about that.
I've seen other outdoor water filters but none that are as efficient as this AND at this price point. The others I've seen with good reviews are twice as much. I tested it at home and am excited to use on a hike. It's a good portable size, and doesn't seem too heavy to have in a backpack for a hiking or camping trip. Very handy, and this could be used in so many other survival situations. Great value for the price.
